I’ve tried exercise, melatonin tea, hot baths, warm milk, hot shower. Relaxation techniques. It’s getting really bad and I’m even starting to hallucinate from sleep deprivation some days. Ambien is completely out as an alternative.I’d like to avoid prescriptions if at all possible. Serious answers only, please, as I’m not finding the challenge humerous at all. It’s impacting my health in other areas. Thank you.

is there anything on your mind that’s bothering you?
Before starting any natural remedies, consult your doctor. Chronic insomnia can itself be a symptom of another condition, such as depression, heart disease, sleep apnea, lung disease, hot flashes, or diabetes, so it’s important to see a doctor if you are having trouble sleeping.
Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is a herb that has been long used as a remedy for insomnia
Melatonin is a popular remedy to help people fall asleep when the sleep/wake cycle has been disturbed, such as in shift workers or people who with jet lag. Melatonin is a hormone found naturally in the body. The pineal gland in the brain makes serotonin which is then converted into melatonin at night when exposure to light decreases.

It sounds like you have a pretty serious case of insomnia if you’ve been sleep deprived long enough to cause hallucinations. You should see a doctor or go to a sleep clinic to find out the root of the cause. I know how miserable it can be to not be able to sleep. I’ve had severe insomnia during depressive episodes. Melatonin, Valerian root, benadryl, none of it helped. Antidepressants finally restored my sleep to normal.
Go to a health food store and talk to someone there. If I recall, tryptophane is a good natural sleep inducer and is that same thing you get from foiling milk vbut without the mess of cooked milk in a pan.
Have you tried meditating ejrm you get in bed?
When I am unable to sleep; I meditate in bed, and usually a few minutes later I am asleep.
Meditation. Where ever you are located find a vitamin store or a holistic network and go to a person who can assist you with meditation. This also works if you are prone to chemical unbalances. It will also help you get to the root of the problem. Can you find someone who really gets you? And will they hold you/rub your back until you can relax. It kinda sounds like a coping mechanism that’s gone haywire.
Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.
Keep asking others/herbal professionals and trying stuff!
I used an herbal sleep product from Nature’s Sunshine and I never slept better (naturessunshine.com). Two years later I have discovered what’s causing mine (hormone issues) and am working on correcting that…I have ended up on Tylenol PM (half of one capsule) to sleep each night.
Insomnia sucks. I feel your pain and pray you find a way to get some rest.
valeriana root…works for me and hubby…good luck, I hope this helps
